We the Jury.....

Just when you think you may have merrily skipped through you appointed jury duty by just calling in... they slam you upside the head and make you go on a Friday! Seriously!

I'm already busy this week so I don't have time for this crap. I would love to do my part and all that but really... does it always have to be when I'm super busy?! Now I have to go into work at 6am so that I can terminate an employee then get to the courthouse by 8am to happily sit on my arse for several hours. Well I guess in hindsight I won't have as bad a day as that termed employee so I should just quit my bitching!

TWD: Where did time go?

<----This little bastard is haunting me.... its Wednesday and no Honey-Wheat Cookies have been baked! I have two big cakes coming up this weekend and decided yesterday to add some extra detail pieces to one of them so I ran short on time. Not to mention yesterday was my honey's b-day and did he get a cake? No.... I suck! I can make cake for the masses but I flunk out on making cake for my loved ones most of the time. Very sad.

Anyhoo... I do plan on making the Honey-Wheat Cookies because they do look scrumptious and I because I had to spend 6 bucks on the darn Wheat Germ. You can find the recipe over at Flourchild

Doughnut Muffins... Really?

The weekend before my cold flu plague came back with a vengeance to kick my everlovin' butt I whipped up a batch of Doughnut Muffins that I saw over on Megan's site My Baking Adventures. These are OMG good and should only be made when you have a gang of people around to eat them or you may fall victim to the fluffy dough-nut-i-ness and eat them all yourself. Consider yourself warned!

TWD:My Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

I'm finally feeling a little more like myself after being sick for weeks and weeks (and weeks)... it was getting downright depressing. I'm still only rockin' it at about 80% capacity but eh what can you do. At least we have gorgeous sunny California weather for a few days so that's something to be happy about ;)
It's Thursday's w/Dorie for me this week. My Best Chocolate Chip cookies were chosen by Kait over at Kait's Plate and you can find the recipe there. I think these are thin and crispy and delicious. I told the honey they were disgusting and I wouldn't force him to have any.....sadly...he didn't fall for it.

TWD: Mini Bundts

Or bundent cake as my honey would say... well we ain't got no mini bundts and we ain't got no milk chocolate either... but what I did have turned into some tasty little cakes regardless.

I replaced the milk chocolate with 1/2 white 1/2 dark (70%), scooped the batter into a cupcake pan and loaded them all up with a nugget of dark chocolate ganache before tossing them in the oven to bake. I was surprised that the ganache just sat there eying me the whole time the cakes were baking..... I was truly expecting them to bubble over into a chocolatey mess. I plated up the warm cakes with a dollop of whipped cream (or whoopcream as the honey would say) and a drizzle of chocolate caramel (he doesn't have any snazzy saying for that tho).

You can grab the recipe from the Queen herself... The Queen of Quite a Lot that is... over at I'm Right About Everything.

Dutch Oven Lovin'

I've been drooling over this Mario Batali Pesto Dutch Oven ever since we got the Pesto Risotto Pot as a wedding gift last year. It was one of those things you put on your registry with your fingers double crossed because it was just gorgeous and poised to be useful in the kitchen! My sister-in-law was good enough to indulge us and we use it all the time. As a matter of fact I will probably make some curry in it tonight. The only thing wrong with it...... is that its fricken HEAVY! Like we bribe each other to put it away kind of heavy. I know that the dutch oven will  be even heavier and may just end up in the back of my cupboard unused. Were only a family of two so this might be overkill for us and a total waste of money. So... if you have a dutch oven of any sort... how often do you use it?
